David Eby refuses to rule out mobility pricing

SURREY (March 15, 2023) – Facing pressure from media today, David Eby refused to rule out mobility pricing as a way to fund transit moving forward.

“David Eby needs to make it clear whether the NDP plans to introduce a road tax on Metro Vancouver commuters,” said MLA Trevor Halford, Shadow Minister for Transportation and TransLink. “In the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, it’s shocking the NDP could consider a move that would pile more taxes on commuters. People deserve to know the truth: where does David Eby really stand on mobility pricing?”

The NDP’s own 2018 commission studying mobility pricing in Metro Vancouver found that an NDP road tax could cost the average driver up to $2,700 per year.
