DAWSON CREEK (December 3, 2022) – BC United Critic for Housing and Accessibility Mike Bernier released the following statement on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities:
“Today we mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, celebrating the value of diversity and the achievements of persons with disabilities both around the world, and here in British Columbia.
“It is a day to renew our commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, and work to ensure all British Columbians have the opportunity to live with dignity and to fully participate in their communities.
“This year’s theme is Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world. It reminds us of the importance of accessibility to furthering equality and the need to make our spaces inclusive from the start.
“As we celebrate the incredible contributions of people with disabilities, we must also support education about disabilities and take action to break down barriers within our society.
“Today, on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we commit to working together to create a better, more inclusive province for all British Columbians.”
