BC Liberals call for Adrian Dix to resign as health minister

VICTORIA (October 3, 2022) – After months of NDP inaction and failure to address B.C.’s deadly health care crisis, the BC Liberals are calling on NDP MLA Adrian Dix to resign as health minister.

“Our health care crisis is getting worse by the day and yet Minister Dix refuses to take personal responsibility and continues to downplay the seriousness of the situation,” said BC Liberal Leader Kevin Falcon. “British Columbians deserve a health minister that will take urgent action to save lives, not one that repeatedly fails to act and gaslights people about the current realities in our health care system. It’s clear the public has lost faith in his meaningless announcements that fail to improve outcomes. The health minister needs to do the right thing, accept responsibility for his appalling record of failure, and step down.”

After five years under this health minister, our health care system is crumbling:

“Every single part of the health system is in crisis and we need a health minister who acknowledges that there is a crisis and takes the urgent action needed to deliver better results for British Columbians,” said Shirley Bond, BC Liberal Critic for Health. “People are dying as a direct result of the NDP’s inaction, and sympathetic words and empty promises are not enough to prevent further tragedy. The unfortunate truth is that this minister needs to accept responsibility for his failure to ensure that British Columbians have access to basic health care services, do the right thing and resign.”
