VANCOUVER (May 12, 2022) – BC Liberal Leader Kevin Falcon released the following statement today in support of the 2022 Moose Hide Campaign Day:
“On today’s Moose Hide Campaign Day, we recognize and applaud the important work campaigners have done to shine a light on, and work towards ending, violence against First Nations, Métis, and Inuit women and children.
“After having to cancel last year’s event, and postpone this year’s event, I’m glad that supporters of the Moose Hide campaign are once again able to gather in Victoria and continue to bring awareness to the tragic epidemic of physical and sexual violence faced by Indigenous women here in British Columbia and throughout Canada.
“Today, our BC Liberal team will wear moose hide pins and support those in Victoria, and others throughout the province, who will be engaging in a day of fasting, listening, and learning to demonstrate our solidarity with those facing gender-based violence.
“We invite all British Columbians to join us in doing all we can to support the empowerment of women and encourage the active participation of men in striving to end gender-based violence. We reaffirm our pledge to help end it, and work to build a better British Columbia where everyone feels safe from violence.”
