PRINCE GEORGE (April 7, 2021) – Interim Leader of the Official Opposition Shirley Bond released the following statement today for Yom HaShoah:
“Tonight at sundown, we commemorate Holocaust and Heroism Remembrance Day, Yom HaShoah.
“Even though we are once again unable to gather together to mark this solemn occasion, it’s vital that we still take the time to reflect on one of the most heinous acts in human history and reaffirm our collective responsibility to ensure that this atrocity is never forgotten and will never happen again.
“Across the country, and here in British Columbia, we will not let the pandemic prevent us from remembering the victims and paying tribute to the heroes and survivors who emerged from this dark period.
“On behalf of the entire BC Liberal Caucus I want to reaffirm our commitment to remembering the lessons of the Holocaust, continuing to oppose antisemitism in all forms, and working to build a better and more tolerant world for future generations.”
