PRINCE GEORGE (February 11, 2021) – Interim Leader of the Official Opposition Shirley Bond released the following statement today in support of the 2021 Moose Hide Campaign:
“On today’s day of action, inspiration, ceremony, and fasting, we recognize and applaud the important work being done by the Moose Hide Campaign to end violence against First Nations, Métis, and Inuit women and children.
“Even without the annual large public gathering this year due to COVID-19, the Moose Hide Campaign continues to raise awareness about the physical and sexual violence that Indigenous women face in our country.
“Today, members of our BC Liberal Caucus will wear moose hide pins and support those throughout the province who will be engaging in a day of fasting, listening, and learning to demonstrate our solidarity with those facing gender-based violence.
“The BC Liberal Caucus strongly believes in the empowerment of women and the active participation of men as vital steps to effectively tackle and end gender-based violence. We reaffirm our pledge to help end it, and work to build a better British Columbia where all homes and communities are safe for everyone.”
