BC Liberal Statement on the anniversary of the Quebec City Mosque attack

PRINCE GEORGE (January 29, 2021) – Interim Leader of the Official Opposition Shirley Bond and BC Liberal Critic for Tourism, Arts & Culture, & Anti-Racism Initiatives Teresa Wat released the following joint statement today on the anniversary of the attack on a Quebec City mosque:

“Today marks four years since the tragic attack at a Quebec City Mosque that left six worshippers dead and nineteen others injured.

“On this tragic anniversary, we take the time to remember those who lost their lives to this heinous attack and send our sincerest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of those killed so suddenly four years ago tonight.

“We must also reflect on the unity that Canada demonstrated following the shooting as people from every corner of our country came together to express condolences and support Canada’s Muslim communities and the people of Quebec City as they grieved.

“Today, on behalf of our entire BC Liberal Caucus, we re-affirm our commitment to fighting discrimination and building a better British Columbia, one without the hatred and bigotry that drives such horrific attacks.”
